Connection: One of Existential Psychology's 4 Ultimate Concerns
The Men's Life Discussion Group meets in a quiet space in North Hills, Raleigh, on November 8, 2026 at 7:00 PM, for a men's discussion on connection, one of four "ultimate concerns" in existential psychology. The exact location is shared over WhatsApp.
The session asks what closeness means when each person only lives inside their own consciousness and language is imperfect. Prompts include what it means to feel connected to someone whose experience you cannot know, when you have felt truly understood, and where words fall short. Participants do not have to answer every question and can bring whatever is true for them that day.
The evening opens with a short introduction to the group and its ground rules. A facilitator is present, but the discussion is mostly free form. It closes with a brief wrap-up, with no homework and no pressure to share more than you want to. The ground rules are to respect differing perspectives, to offer no unsolicited advice and no "I'm sorry" (responses come with curiosity and acknowledgment), and to keep what is shared in the room.
The group is for men who want honest conversation rather than small talk. No background in psychology or philosophy is needed. To attend, you must join the newcomer group on WhatsApp and say you are interested. Space is limited, so the organiser asks that you make contact as soon as possible. If WhatsApp gives you trouble, you can message the organiser directly through Meetup.
